What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a key component of Chinese medicine and involves the insertion of very fine, sterile, single-use needles into carefully selected points on the body.
Acupuncture is one of the key treatment methods used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It involves the insertion of very fine, sterile, single-use needles into specific points on the body to support health and wellbeing.
Traditionally, acupuncture has been used to regulate bodily functions, improve circulation and restore balance to reasonably degree within the body. Chinese medicine recognises that the body functions as an interconnected system, where physical symptoms may be influenced by factors such as emotional wellbeing, digestion, sleep, lifestyle and overall health.
Modern research has provided further insight into how acupuncture works. Studies suggest that acupuncture stimulates sensory nerves and influences activity within the brain and nervous system, including processes involved in pain regulation, gut function, stress management. Research has also explored its effects on local tissues and the body's physiological responses.
At Hudaid Health, acupuncture is tailored to each individual's health concerns and treatment goals.
Acupuncture may be incorporated into an individualised treatment plan for a range of concerns, including persistent pain, muscular tension, menstrual symptoms, fertility support, stress-related concerns and digestive disturbances.
Rather than focusing solely on the presenting symptom, Dr Fatima Al-Hudaid considers the broader health picture to better understand the factors that may be contributing to an individual's concerns.
Each treatment is tailored to the patient, taking into account their health history, current symptoms and overall wellbeing.
